The Beach Is Alive With The Sound Of Music!

One of the most understated qualities of Crabbysbeach is the choir of voices that can be heard here daily.

Beautiful and engaging, these voices provide the songs that motivate me through the day. I am drawn here often, not only as owner/admin/participant, but as a fan.

Stunning photographs, insightful musings, introspective reflections, and in depth teaching are but a few of the arias that combine to make the Beach a performance that would give any orchestra a run for their money.

I’ll throw the spotlight on three voices now,  three voices that ring clear in my heart and playfully toy with my addled mind.

The voices of John, Nicki, and Karen have their way with me. They tease me, push me, taunt me. They hold me in awe. They have the power I want.

John’s Bullshot is a wonderful broadcast of facts and observations that is confidently playful. John’s voice reminds me of a teacher who has seenit all and has grown tired of teaching by the book. It’s tome to have a little fun with what he knows.

The Custard Bowl. Honest, cheerful, full of life. Nicki’s voice is like a spell. Weaving across my eardrums, the magic takes me places I would not normally go.

And then there is Squid and Squabble. When I read Karen’s words, I am beckoned on a chase. Into a foggy night I am drawn by glimpses of a beauty in a black trench coat. Slender calves walking away from me. Long dark hair accentuated by moments of hazy street lamps.

There are these songs and more. The Beach is alive with music.

What songs do you hear?

So many great songs here at Crabbysbeach. I only wish I had half the writing skills of the three you’ve mentioned.

Beautiful post, Alex. Might I say that you have a wonderful voice yourself! I do love the voices you have chosen for this entry, I’ve always held Nicki & Karen in high esteem – I can only hope to write as eloquently as they do. I’ve never encountered John but thanks to this post, I will get to hear his voice too. :)

Alex… this post is worth far more to me than the $100 bill I sent you to improve my exposure! Although… Nicki & Karen tell me they got the same exposure for half price… What’s up with that?? ;-) Forgive me, I can’t think of anyone on the beach that would buy that line, but (as a disclaimer) all who read this need to know it’s only my weak attempt at humor. I’m really thrilled and honored to be part of the family choir at the beach and appreciate being a part of your spotlight on this post. The Beach is continuing and will continue to grow (on it’s own and with Google) in importance and in popularity…and why not? This Wordpress multi user Beach is the Golden Egg of blogging networks. Alex sired it and it already has many of my favorite talented friends regularly contributing with fascinating, educational and important posts. So… yes the Beach is Alive with the Sound of Music from a great choir of voices and it is a testimony to the foresight, passion, talent and commitment of a “Linchpin” personality and his collaborating cohorts. That linchpin is Alex who I know collaborated with Micheytook an idea and poured their heart and soul into it and gave us all a platform to make music on. I have followed the progress of Drifter since my early Squidoo days and he is confidently growing and sharing his talent & perspective with a passion and soul that keeps us all tuned in with anticipation. It’s great to see it unfold and what makes it even greater is that he is unselfishly and unabashedly sharing the gospel of how to get where he is now with all the rest of us.

Obviously the record “stuck” before I completed my comment :) and I couldn’t figure out how to “lose” the unfinished 1st effort… sorry!

Nicki’s voice I know well: blogging eloquently away about other people and their lenses. I decided to look John up. (It’s funny — I clicked on this post thinking you were going to discuss the tremendous response to the music challenge. Hmmm, no.)

I almost missed this one, and it’s quite apt that I only caught it as I was looking for the latest from Karen. Her writing weaves a spell, and it’s no surprise that I’m not the only one chasing the mysteries so tantalisingly revealed. To describe John as a teacher is also spot on. I learn from John, but in ways that take me on a journey and deliver me at a destination with a jolt, finding I discovered something about myself and how I see the world when I thought I was simply there to be entertained.

As for me, well I’m finding my way, Alex. At the moment I’m struggling (is it the dreaded 3-month barrier that you mentioned in a previous post?), but I know that I’ve got to stay in there, keep on writing through the barriers. I appreciate the encouragement. And appreciate too all the other voices that make it such a pleasure to sing my own song when I choose, and give me a chance to listen and be inspired the rest of the time.

(I too am having commenting problems today, not sure if this one will appear…)
